Hello! My name is Tara Chase. I have spent 51 fulfilling years on this ever-changing floating globe and can't wait to spend another 49 doing what I love - Psychology.
In my early years of college (right out of high school) I wanted to explore a career in psychology and began taking courses. Somehow, with life's twists and turns, having kids, getting married, and needing to work, I lost sight of this dream.
Into my late 30s, I realized that a person could change their destiny by making different life choices, even if it was hard, seemed like nonsense, or impossible. I decided to go back to school and get a B.S. in psychology, and my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
In 2022, near the end of my master's degree, our family suffered a great loss. My firstborn son passed away in a tragic car accident. He was just 22 years old. Looking back I can see the baby steps I took that led me to where I am today with the pursuit of my doctoral degree. I see the support that lifted me in the hardest of moments, the people who pushed me when I felt it was too much.
I dedicate this chapter in my life to them. My loving husband Jason, and beautiful children. Especially my sweet boy who has gone to be with the angels.
I am an NAU alumnus, GCU alumnus, and GCU Doctoral graduate student. I have had many careers over the years including Hairstylist, Entertainer (singing, acting), Insurance Agent and Manager, Business Owner, Teacher, Surgical Technician/Nurse, and now a Therapist and Supervisor. I have never felt more fulfilled and enthralled with a career as I have working in psychology.
Tara L. Chase, MS, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona specializing in trauma-informed care, behavioral health, and integrated mental health services. She currently provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups, utilizing evidence-based approaches including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.
Tara’s clinical experience includes work in outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs, and interdisciplinary healthcare environments. She has served in leadership roles managing counseling departments, supervising clinicians and interns, and developing therapeutic programming for individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma, addiction, and neurodivergence.
Her work frequently involves collaboration with schools, courts, healthcare providers, and community agencies to ensure comprehensive and ethical client care.
In addition to her clinical work, Tara contributes to counselor education as an instructional assistant at Grand Canyon University, where she supports students in counseling programs and promotes inclusive learning environments for diverse student populations. She also brings more than two decades of experience in education and curriculum development, including teaching psychology, behavioral health, and special education across K–12 and adult learning environments.
Tara’s professional interests include trauma recovery, counselor education and supervision, crisis intervention, multicultural counseling, and advocacy for underserved and marginalized populations. She is committed to advancing the counseling profession through ethical practice, community advocacy, and mentorship of emerging counselors.develop and execute campaigns that drive results.
